Winds?
« on: 03 Oct, 2020, 10:21:02 am »
I had incredibly strong winds up here yesterday, especially around 4pm.  The Pine trees were really rocking!  I tend to forget during summer months how bad these trees are in strong winds.  Thankfully the wind had dropped by the time i went to bed but outside there are masses of dead leaves to be swept up...

Terrible here ...... as we are surrounded by crop growing fields and they have recently been prepared for planting .... the topsoil was very loose and consequently, we had a dust storm of biblical proportions !!

Today has been spent removing the summer cover from the pool, poco a poco ......washing the mud from it, then trying to remove thousands of black plastic bits from the water.........

Looks better now, but if we get any more wind ...... I could be REALLY upset tomorrow

Wind was still blowing strongly yesterday and also today but nothing like friday.  No matter how long I live here I still imagine one or all of the pine trees dropping on my house.  Doubtful, as the prevailing winds come down from Baza direction, so if they did come down it would be onto the road and not my house.  I am still going to pester the Ayuntamiento about how dangerous they are...

The highest gust here on Friday in Retamar near Partaloa was 77kph at 15:51hrs, fortunately we had taken the cover from the gazebo off that morning when it was gusting and secured the roof furniture down but it still managed to whip the solar cover off the pool!

It was definitely strongest by mid afternoon.  Unusual to get them so early in the winter.
