Hoopoes?
« on: 07 Jan, 2021, 03:04:08 pm »
I saw 2 of these on my chain link fence this morning.  Sadly they flew off before I could photograph them.  I thought they migrated in winter months?
While out in the drizzle this morning I saw a lot of wildlife and wonder if it was due to it being very quiet around the campo.  A red fox sat watching me for some time, then, when it saw I meant it no harm, it sauntered off.  A bit later a couple of rabbits bounced away as I approached.  I'm not sure which of us was the most startled. Above me were a couple of eagles which had managed to find a thermal to soar on.
I feel so lucky to live here...

How lovely.  Hoopoes are year round residents here.  They do fly South in the Winter but we are South

Thanks Judi, I do not seem to have seen them in colder months.  Maybe it is too cool up here....
