Birthday Party in Cantoria

A birthday party causes a new outbreak in Cantoria
Health is on alert for the celebrations and asks that they be told where and with whom it has been held

Social gatherings in which security measures are not maintained are now one of the biggest concerns that the Almeria Health delegation has in order to curb the fifth wave of the coronavirus, which for two days this weekend has seen more than 200 positives, something that had not happened since last April.

This was assured to LA VOZ by the provincial delegate of Health, Juan de la Cruz Belmonte, who pointed out that the large number of celebrations that are leaving new positives for covid, as already happened a few weeks ago in Tíjola, where over fifty cases were associated with the same outbreak, he also added that those involved in them "often do not tell the truth."

Birthdays: A problem that makes it even more difficult to detect the positives associated with new outbreaks, as in the case of Cantoria, where a birthday celebrated last week led to a new outbreak in the province of Almería that, for the moment, leaves 12 new positives, although it is expected that they will continue to rise in the Almanzora region over the next few days.

"As a result of a birthday, an outbreak has originated in Cantoria and it already affects other municipalities such as Antas, but everything indicates that it will continue to rise during the next few days in the Almanzora region," says the Almeria delegate for Health, who emphasizes that Health professionals who are in charge of epidemiological tracing are currently encountering many complications to detect outbreaks because people who are involved in them hide information that is essential for tracing out of fear.

"Now we are seeing that many people do not want to say where they have been or if they have participated in a party, but we do not judge that, we simply need the information so that Health professionals can make the corresponding scans ," says Belmonte, who asks for collaboration to the citizens of the province to stop the new wave.

It was an end of school party which caused the outbreak up at this end of the valley.  It was held at the pool at Cela where social distancing was nor adhered to nor was mask wearing. The outbreak spread to local villages including Purchena, Olula, Somontin, Lucar,  Suffli etc.
This Covid epidemic is not over....
