Basically and trying to explain without being too technical :- fibre optic is a method of delivering your service, think landline or mobile telephones.
Optic is the landline alternative to receiving your signal via a mast on a hill.
When it arrives at your house (either "mobile or landline") your internet will then be distributed via a router.. if your router is WiFi it will have an antenna or two to transmit to your devices which will then need to be connected by the routers password.
Without the antenna you need to hard wire it (LAN: Local area network) usually known as CAT5 cable..
