The Minister of Economy, Knowledge, Business and University, Rogelio Velasco, has informed the Governing Council of the completion of the process, to declare of strategic interest for Andalusia, in the expansion of the Cosentino Group industrial complex in the province of Almeria, following the agreement adopted by the Delegate Commission for Economic Affairs.

This expansion and consolidation project will involve an investment of 719 million euros in the next ten years and the creation of 740 direct jobs, which will involve another 1,900 direct and indirect workers that will be generated during the construction phase.

This business initiative promoted by Cosentino Group and Coma Environmental Solutions will be a dynamic factor in the economy of the Almanzora area and involves acting on an area of ​​145 hectares in the municipalities of Cantoria, Partaloa and Fines, in which 13 new facilities will be implemented. Ten of them will aim to increase the productive capacity of the Dekton and Silestone products, which represent respectively 13% and 68% of the group's sales; and the remaining three will be destined to auxiliary activities, within the framework of the Reborn waste recovery project.

In the past 5 years there has been a massive building project on the site.  The last phase meant employment for 6,000 local workers who had no other hope of jobs.
If there are people living here who have not ventured up this end of th motorway, then it is a 'must' and then go on to visit thr marble quarries of Macael.  These quarries have been mined since the Romans discovered it!
