Gota Fria
« on: 26 Aug, 2019, 01:11:10 pm »
There is a weather warning out for later today and overnight into tomorrow morning for a Gota Fria.  This occurs when colder air from the north clashes with warmer weather here.  Those of you who remember the dreadful floods from a few years ago will remember the devastating damage down at the coast when rain from inland breached the ramblas and bridges and roads were washed away.
I hope it does not happen again....

As Clare says,  "rain would be nice" . Steady rain for a few hours, nice and clean without dirt in it and everyone will be happy!

I'll b happy if we gt nice steady rain all night long and wouldn't even complain if it was Sahara rain.  Doubt if it will be as it is coming from Portugal, not Sahara region, accordingt to the rain alarm.
The Gota Fra has now been downgraded to thunderstorms.

No rain as yet, but we do have to be careful what we wish for. https://www.theguardian.com/global/video/2019/aug/27/piles-of-hail-flash-floods-and-a-tornado-hits-spain-video

Also the channel 4 programme last night showed frightening shots of flooding in North Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Thought the guy from the Town and Country Planning Association talked a lot of sense.

I seem to recall Sept.2012 was particularly nasty. Madrid had one street with cars travelling on hailstones yesterday. Looks like it missed most parts of Almeria.
