ah-OON

still, yet

1.  La novia y los invitados se están poniendo nerviosos; aún no ha llegado el novio a la iglesia.

The bride and the guests are getting nervous; the groom still hasn't showed up at the church.

2.  Este omelet está bueno, pero con un poco de tocino quedaría aún mejor.

This omelette is good, but with a bit of bacon it would be better still.

Notes

Don’t confuse "aún" with "aun!" Without an accent mark, the word means "even." A good rule of thumb would be to ask whether you could use "todavía" (which also means "still") as a substitute: if you can, use "aún." Both words have accents!

I did!!! I asked (I thought) for six drawers. The man said, laughing, I only have two. I asked when he would have more, he said never. This conversation went on for about ten minutes. In the end he couldn't stop laughing and put me straight!!
