DANA

It's probably a distant memory for  most  people but Im curious to see how many others were badly affected by it?
I sat in total darkness while the rain hammered on my roof and poured in through window frames, while the thunder and lightning was continuous.
It wasnt until next day that I went out to investigate.  I stood trying to take it all in - my 1,200 m2 garden was gone.  The gravel id just had laid, was no more as were plants, shrubs and even a tree no where to be seen.  My chainlink fence on one side was bowed inwards, while tthe fence on the other side
was bowed outwards. The metal anchors hanging suspended above the muck and rubbish and many, many bamboo canes (where did they come from?).  I have spent nearly 20 years making my garden for it to be taken down to the valley floor in one night.  I have no inclination to start again.  I am simply tidying it up and have put the bulbs I brought fom Belgium into pots. At the front where i park my car, gravel which had been laid less than a month before was also nowhere to be seen.  The road  was covered in large rocks and the parking area deeply rutted by the force of the mud and water.  I had to level it off and it was then I noticed that only 3 of my car's wheels were on the ground, the 4th was suspended as so much soil had washed away.  I glanced across to the other side of the road and ites untouched. Due to the gradient of the road, all that had washed down from the village, together with thr contents of the 3 tracks which converged on my drive.
I had been wondering ifi should move closer to a village, I made my mind up there and then to put my house on the market and start looking to see what was on the  market.
