Cantoria upgrades the streets
« on: 30 Oct, 2019, 08:53:29 pm »
An investment of 400,000 euros in the sanitation and asphalting of Cantoria Streets
The Council will improve the supply network, sidewalks and eliminate barriers and wiring

Cantoria Council has launched a plan to update sanitation networks, distribution of drinking water and underground wiring that affects a good part of the streets of the municipality. Progressively the Council plans to meet the demands of the neighbours, after what they consider "years of neglect of these public infrastructures despite the obvious symptoms of exhaustion of their useful life."

These works will involve the replacement of pathways, the elimination of architectural barriers and the renewal of asphalting on main roads such as the streets of Mayor Cristino María Sánchez, Avenida España or Filabres y Real. The work will begin after several months of programming and once it has had sufficient availability of necessary funds, since it is an investment that the Council has announced exceeds 400,000 euros. “It is about fulfilling what should be the normal function of a Town Council and that unfortunately in Cantoria has not been done for many years; i.e. maintain, renovate, improve public services and not for a mere question of image, but in order to seek maximum efficiency of infrastructure” explains the mayor, Puri Sánchez.

For the mayor not to face these deficiencies "implies in the medium term maintenance costs and losses that in some cases can generate health problems and in others a very high economic cost".  The Council approved the works to bury all the wiring so that the traditional architectural landscape of Cantoria can be maintained.

"Together we are going to address something very important for us, such as modernising the sidewalks and making it accessible to facilitate the transit of our elders or those with reduced mobility," said the Cantoria mayor. Once the works are finished, a second phase will take place in streets such as Niños de Cantoria or Avenida Oriente, among other roads, and will have the same task: update the sewer system, underground, improve the supply network and address the steep and asphalted roads, eliminating Architectural barriers.
