I bank with these people and yesterday had an email asking me to reset my online password.  I read the whole of the email address and it was obvious it wasn't from the bank.  I sent it, unopened, to my bank.  This morning I had a phone call from a friend who doesn't bank with them and she'd been sent the same email.  Watch out everyone, you may find one in your inbox.

Thanks Frankie -  even though I don't bank with Santander it's a good reminder of some of the scams going on.  And sharing this information is an excellent example of what THIS forum is, and should be,  all about.

Yep, don't trust anyone with your account details, password etc. too many people are being scammed nowadays. Sad old world we live in, this online thieves club.

Leading on from this post I notice this forum is NOT SECURE.  It is the only one among the various sites I belong to that this is the case.  Is there any way this can be changed, Admin?

What specific insecurity worries you?  We don't do internet banking on here, pay by paypal or buy anything so I can't see the risk.

Judi is correct but I've asked the tech guys at the data centre about the current http:// as opposed to https:// settings for the website.
There are some potential issues with older devices / mobile phones, but in general the certificates work fine.

Frankie, (and/or others) change from http://blahblah  to https://thearboleasforum.com and save it in your favourites instead and it will be OK.. I'll update some stuff to do it automatically server side but it'll take a little while.

It might have worked, mine looks good, please let me know if you still see "not safe" type stuff - but as a reminder, you aren't entering personal info here and shouldn't, it's a chat system, not a buying site

Technical said : "There was a stale IP in the server ip pool and I had to remove it for the reconfiguration to work"
yeah... lol

Technical are extremely good though, within 30 minutes they raise the support ticket, reply with a #number, check out the problem and give a solution, sometimes they need to kick something or tell me which icon to hit... gotta love the system

I have no idea how scammers get hold of any of our info but surely t is better to do as much as you can to make your online experiences as secure as you can...
