I prefer paintings of everyday life, such as Vermeer's, more than expressionist works.

2.  Si mi hermana no se toma su siesta cotidiana, se pone de un humor negro.

If my sister doesn't take her daily nap, she gets into a foul mood.

I would use diario for daily.
