VACCINATION PROGRESS
Spain is now top of the highly populated countries for vaccination rates, equal with Canada
The following figures relate to the percentage of the whole population who have had one dose, and those who have had a full dose.
Spain. 72% 61%
UK 72% 60%
France 67% 51%
Ireland 70% 60%
Germany 63% 56%
Australia 36% 19%
USA 60% 51%
World 30% 16%
In Spain there is no shortage of vaccines.
90% of people over 40 are fully vaccinated.
Everyone who are yet to receive their first vaccine are being urged to visit a centre.
This includes everyone over 12 years of age.
The last few days have shown a marked decline in new infections across Spain, and also new hospital admissions.
However ICU occupancy is still high.

Thank you Roger!
How interesting that Spain, after a slow start, should now be ahead.
My son who resides in Germany and is 57 has only had his first jab (his wife who is much younger has yet to get her first). The second is due next week. It is a country which is normally out in front but they were slow to accept that some vaccines were safe and therefor did not order them.

Our son also in Germany aged 53 has had both of his and his partner, aged 30 has had both of hers as she is a school teacher. Looking forward to seeing them this Friday. Thanks again Roger for keeping us up to date, very much appreciated.

Daily infection rates.
Spain 34 per 100,000
UK 38 per 100,000.

My daughter aged 29 had her jabs in July, but that was in Wales

The UK has panicked to order more Pfizer vaccines and found the price has gone up.
The panic is because the EU has pre ordered 900 million Pfizer vaccines so this time the EU has got in before the UK.

I am assuming this is to do a third jab for people considered high risk? I'm hearing nothing about possibility of a 3rd in autumn here?
