tirante - taut, tight, tense
Spanish example: Si pulsamos una cuerda tirante obtenemos una nota. Cuando la longitud de la cuerda se reduce a la mitad obtenemos una octava.
English example: If we pluck a tight string we obtain a note. When the length of the string is reduced in half, we obtain an octave.
