The Minister of Culture of the Government of Spain, José Guirao, will visit the Almanzora Palace this Saturday (17th August 2019). It is one of the most representative neoclassical historic buildings in the province of Almeria but nevertheless needs years of work and requires urgent action to preserve its structure.

Municipal sources have announced that the minister, a native of Pulpí and who was appointed to the Central Executive at the hands of Pedro Sánchez, will also visit the recently remodeled and equally historic Almanzora railway station in Cantoria and that, in the same way, he will attend the fiestas of the neighbourhood that coincide with his visit.
It should be remembered that one of the main lines of work maintained by the Town Council of Cantoria to achieve the rehabilitation of the Almanzora Palace is the grant of 1.5% Cultural funds, the percentage that Fomento allocates for each work and project for the maintenance of heritage. Although the town of Cantoria has presented the recovery of the palace within this line of aid, it has not yet been one of the beneficiary projects of the same, so it hopes that the minister sees first-hand the relevance of the property and its urgent need to act on it before it is too late and becomes unrecoverable.
