Hugh Grant, I liked that film he was in around 1995 when he played a sleazy bloke who got arrested for unseemly stuff by the LAPD.

Its really amazing that anyone in England with an ounce of sense should continue to stand behind this guy to be in charge of the UK in its greatest hour of need for many years. Cool heads needed and along comes Boris !! . When you see some of his words and deeds over the years how on earth did he get where he now is. Not to mention the neighbours calling the police to the ( domestic )
Puts Hugh Grants " sleazy " 20 minutes with a lady of the night in perspective . IMO of course.

Knowall you must be a scream at parties 🎉 Lol.

We learned today that 79 cross party MPs and members of the Lords have tabled a petition in the Scottish Court of Session in Edinburgh that what Boris is doing is illegal. This will probably bring them into conflict with the Queen's decision to allow Parliament to be prorogued. It's possible she may have to sack Johnson.

We can but hope

And here was me thinking that one of the main aims of leading Brexiteers was to bring back Parliamentary Sovereignty
Well that didn't last long did it

We've had parliamentary sovereignty all along Richard. Remember when they took control of the order papers and then they had lots of meaningful and indicative votes?
They couldn't agree whether to order pie, chips or mushy peas. They need another 4 days to figure it out after 3 years of squabbling?
Yeah, right.

Yeah, right.
I think what you have raised John is the effectiveness of parliamentary sovereignty, which is a very different point to the one that I made in my original post.
It seems to me that leading Brexiteers were originally clamouring for parliamentary sovereignty until of course they found that it was not working for them. So now they have come up with a ruse to get round it.
It may be a very clever ruse and it may work for them. However, such actions have other consequences. One being that actions like this only fuel the belief that the Prime Minister and some of cabinet are untrustworthy and cannot be relied upon to tell the truth. When a government gains that sort of reputation it is very difficult to lose that tag
