Title: what time are you going to bed tonight?
Post by: Ukulele on 12 Dec, 2019, 07:13:41 pm
For me it depends on how the results are going.
The better they go, the longer I will stay up.
The high turn out and youth vote give me some hope, but then it is the hope that kills you.
Fear I may be tucked up by 1pm, and then  wake up tomorrow, hoping that it had all been a bad dream!

So are you already in bed then?

Sorry couldnt resist. To me either way we will be doomed reminds of the election between Trump and CLinton

I went early and got up about 4am  - not too much happens before then, being an hour in front. Nice to see Scotland turn bright yellow and Jo Swinson kicked out. Most of the North West and Yorkshire turning blue and the likes of Don Valley voting Conservative for the first time ever.

I saw Jeremy Dustbin's speech that he was resigning

It's been an interesting 2 hours  :tiphat:

Pound soars as Tories win majority in election

The pound surged against the dollar as the Conservative Party won an overall majority in the UK general election.

Sterling gained 2.2% to $1.34 - its highest level since May last year - on hopes that a big majority would remove uncertainty over Brexit.

The pound also jumped to a three-and-a-half-year high against the euro.

Yes, for now, some are all a little richer, because of the exchange rate.
Wonder how we will fare if Johnson does not get a good trade deal in a years time.

I wonder how many people still think that everything will be back to status quo by monday with big deals having been made with the US and other countries who are doubtless fighting to do a deal with Boris?   I wonder how long it will take for realisation to dawn that this will only be the beginning...

On reflection, I am glad they won.  At least now they won't be able to blame anyone else for the omnishambles we are heading for. It will be on their watch and they will go down in history as the party that lead us there

I felt that way the last time labour won the election.  Can't remember how far back that was though!

Nothing we can do will influence the Brexit process now, just have to sit back and hope that somehow they get a trade deal sorted out otherwise this time next year we could be back to No-Deal time.

One of my main concerns is reciprocal health care,  Spain has promised we will continue to get it until the end of 2020, which means they have just 12 months to sort it out but I doubt it will be high on the list of priorities...
