Title: Nightmare
Post by: jimmymac on 24 May, 2019, 05:51:52 pm
Just over 3 years ago I had this unbelievable nightmare in which the UK voted to leave the EU, Donald Trump was the US  president and Boris Johnson was the UK PM. Totally frightening but couldn't possibly happen I thought.
Guess what, possibly within the next couple of months the nightmare could become reality?

And the pound and my UK pension sinks into a black hole.
Bozo as PM ??? God help us all. Im sorry for Theresa. She got really shafted by her party. The rollercoaster continues.
Only good thing is if there is a general election the DUP will go back to being nobodys.

And what is also a part of that nightmare is the fact that Farage is making a rapid comeback and is now is soaring back up the ladder with his new party.
Like you, Jimmymac, never in a month of sundays would I have ever forecast any of this...

I think Farage is so up himself that he doesn't realise that the majority of the population actually dislike him. According to the polls he has a negative rating of 56%.

As for Bojo the man has lost his moral compass and says things regardless of whether they are true or not.

I am a firm believer that the electorate get the government and the leader of the country they deserve.

Rory Stewart is coming across as very thoughtful, reasonable and honest.

His view that  'no deal' is not a destination, but the failure to reach a destination, rings true.

'No deal' will leave us with all the same negotiations to do, but we will be outside the EU, so it will be even harder to get a desired result.

Is  Matt Hancock related to Tony Hancock.  He would have made a wonderful PM.
Any comedian can take a no deal but it wont be funny.  The pound will be worth 3 and 6 pence.

Agree with the comments on Rory Stewart he appears to be one of the best of a motley crew!

So was Theresa May.

You think so ....
all she ever did was appease the Tory Brexiteers members and MP's .... Brexit means Brexit ... No deal is better than a bad deal etc.
Stewart says he is not going to do that cos he knows that a decent Brexit,  is a much more difficult to accomplish and is honestly saying so.....
though personnally, I think any member of a party that imposed austerity on a country to persue its political ideology and the dismantling of the state and common welfare, is not worth supporting in any case.

I hope you’re not all expecting someone reasonable to get the job!  We’ve had the two worst PMs in living memory one after the other and they will probably now go for a hat trick.  ☹️☹️

Looking at the 7 who have said they will stand and those who are faffing around when you know damn well they will not be able to resist., there is not a leader among them.
What is even more concerning to me is the rise of Farage again.  With the way things are going he could be PM in the future.  I have always been a big fan of  'Widders' but am so disappointed to see she has now allied herself to his party.

Its so strange that the UK a once mighty nation who had great leaders in the war years and before and  the US the most powerful country in the world cant find a leader amongst them. ??
You are right Frankie, wouldent let them run a coffee shop.

Hard to find anyone who would make a good PM in any party as well as any party worth voting for, so sorry but UK seems up the creek without a paddle...

Probably why a party only formed 6 weeks ago has swept the board in the local elections.

Told you it was a nightmare. Trump upsets everyone on purpose, Boris the bumbler on the other hand does by accident. Feel like a nightcap Raymondo even though it's just gone 5pm in the afternoon, all is lost!  :headshake: :headshake:

I don’t believe that Boris upsets people by accident.  He’s educated and clever which makes him very dangerous.

I wonder if Boris will be meeting Trump on his visit to UK?  it would be interesting seeing 2 Alpha males squaring up to each other...

Trump has been heaping praise on Boris and Farage, so that’s a brilliant recommendation for them both!  🤪🤪🤪

I doubt that will win either any more votes...  He did not seem to approve of Gove though, so not all bad....
I am so glad to see the 'Blimp' which flew over London on his last visit stayed to fly another day!

Looks like Trump is salivating at the thought of the UK becoming the 51st state. 😱😱

What would be the true cost of a UK/US trade deal? Read today that part of it could be privatisation of the NHS etc... no doubt that it will never be in the UK's favour!
I can't stand Trump and also will never understand how he became and still is President.  :dunno: :dunno:

I'v just heard on TV that the cost of this Trump + family, friends and other hangers-on will be 18million pounds :headshake: :headshake:

Jimmymac, he is still there as he is almost deified by the redneck populations in US and those are the ones he plays to.  I am F/B friends with several Americans and they are just as bemused by the fact he is still in office and will possibly win another term at the next elections as the rest of the World.

Costing Ireland 10 million  for 2 days to  visit his own Hotel.  Steel fencing for miles around to keep out the thousands of protesters.
Melania is coming with him.  She must have a white stick and a labrador to get involved with him but i guess money talks.
Maybe some of my Irish friends will bump him off.

Ireland were seemingly happy to pay around €18,000,000 to host the religious leader, of a much smaller country. The Vatican city.
There was not even any trade deals to be had there.

So Trump's visit, as leader of a country of 327 million, seems a bargain by comparison.

Post by: Raymondo on 03 Jun, 2019, 01:19:49 pm
Mmmmn.  Francis was a leader of 1.2 billion catholics and was very welcome to a Ireland  a  catholic country so 327 million is just small change.
Francis is liked by the Irish whereas Trump is despised as a Racist  nasty piece of work.!!
The trade deal with the Vatican City is worth much much more than money Knowall.

The trade comes later.
JFK ,Obama, Reagan and even Bush were welcomed to Ireland  as its in the Irish make up to be welcoming but 90% of the Irish dont want Trump there.
Thats the Sermon for today folks.

Not just the Irish Raymondo.  There are protests planned for all over the UK.

I wouldn't care about it so much if he was at least believable but he is such a poor actor and obvious liar that anyone who trusts and votes for him must be mentally deficient. Just wish I was fit and young enough to join the protestors in the UK, sod him and Johnson!!!

As far as I am concerned, the fact he is an advocate for Farage and Boris says it all...

Don't think I can be bothered to go back and join the protests just heard that they are going to be awarded a speech by Jeremy Corbyn!

I just heard a bit of the rant by jeremy dustbin on the news, so if he's expecting to be a prime minister at upcoming elections, the USA will not have any working relationship with the UK. What a plonker, even Rodney had some sense..

I do wonder what historians will make of all this in a 100 years...   They'll probably think we were all a load of sheep following blindly and believing all the crap we'd been fed.
