Title: Birds?
Post by: frankie on 09 Feb, 2020, 09:54:27 am
Has anyone noticed the birds singing just before dawn?  I have a robin and a blackbird who arrive about this time and they both sing  their little hearts out at the top of the massive pine trees.  It won't be very long before we get the full dawn chorus in spring as more birds come back for summer....

Yeah it’s great, a sign we’ve turned the corner and spring is in sight, hallelujah I hate winter.

My dawn chorus starts at 4:30 a.m. when the young and the old cockerels of my next door neighbour start their crowing match.
I love the countryside, haha!

On my walk down to the village, there is a high bank.  Bee Eaters live there in the summer and feast on a huge colony of tiny bees who live in holes in the rock/sand.  I noticed on Saturday that the bees were active.  I would think that is very early

Don't get to hear many birds singing but I do have a dyslexic chicken who I hear every morning and he's got it totally wrong. Doodle adoodle, doodle cock is his song!!

We also get the chickens and the peacocks every morning, all the other birds (gosh those Ring Necked Doves are a nuisance!!) but one unique thing we have is the aria of the Lim, all day every day  :undecided:

There’s a turtle dove hanging round mine. Never seen on before, makes a truly irritating noise. I need to shut it up  :lips-sealed:

Bring it round mine Foggy.
Love the sound turtle doves make. Much nicer sound than ring necked doves.

The collared dove must be the most annoying bird ever!

They sit on our gate post and have the most boring conversation we each other ever …… un..i..ted, un..i.ted, un..i..ted
and then whoever they were talking to answers back exactly the same … un..i..ted, un..i..ted, un..i..ted.

And then when they've bored you for an hour or two with their conversation, they take off making the most awful screech that frightens the life out of you

And don't even get me about the deposits they leave about ……….

I agree BRIMAR, my lot sing... I'm thirsty... I'm thirsty...  all morning : in the afternoon it sounds like... two thirty... two thirty....
The house behind us has an electricity line (or 3) running over it's swimming pool and patio - what a mess they make !!!

Well remember Bill Oddy on Springwatch saying that the ring necked doves were saying “I don’t know, I don’t know, because they’re a bit thick.
