2 shops I went into today with purchases over 20€ in both shops, I was not asked for my pin. Please keep your bank cards secure.

That sounds worrying and very strange. Usually they stick the card in the machine and you authorise the amount with your PIN or the purchase won't complete.
Do you have one of those new contactless cards perhaps?

Indeed. Some Banks have raised the limit from 20 euros to 50 euros, so keep them safe or be ready to cancel if stolen or lost.

Contact less purchasing has been increased to 30€ some time ago. Depending on the card and shop can be up to 50€. So yes be careful if you lose it!

Turns out I have a contactless card. Not happy about the raising of the limit.

The limit has been raised during the Coronavirus pandemic so that you do not need to touch the key pad, the banks have said it will be lowered again and is only a temporary measure
