Rent costs

If you think 500 a month for a villa in Arboleas is expensive have a look at dublin.4000 a month before bills. We have a house there but her who must be obeyed wont think of renting it out. Get a lot of Jameson and Supper Shelfs for that. Might even get what comes with the shelf.

I am a Homes Under the Hammer fanatic and am staggered how much landlords are able to charge, sometimes for little more than a cupboard.
My old cottage in East Anglia was recently up for sale recently and when I looked at the sale site I nearly fell off my chair at the listed price.  It is a Victorian Farm cottage, 3 bedrooms, kitchen, dining room and living room and is on a private road on the farm.  It still has the old fireplace in 2 rooms.  I paid 73,000 pounds for it in 1984 and added a few modern touches.  I won awards for the garden and even opened to the public under the National Open Gdn scheme.  It is called Rabbit Hutch Cottage which will give some idea of it's size!
It was selling for 300,00 pounds and I understand it was sold for just under that price...  I should have rented it out...
No way could I now live in UK, I couldn't afford to...

Don't see how many of us could afford to rent or buy a decent property in the UK now frankie as time and prices have passed us by.
Think that in our case, me and the o/h that is, the decision to sell our property in the UK and buy one here is probably the worst financial decision we ever made in our lives.
Still like "living the dream" but its certainly been an expensive one. Lol  :tiphat:

Same here Jimmymac and after living here for 15 years this is the longest I have lived in any house in my life.   This is more home than anywhere else has been for me.
The downside is that I need to sell and move nearer civilisation but am unable to as my house is not registered on the catastral, even though I have an escritura as it is illegal and does not exist.  I cannot walk away and rent somewhere as it would cost far too much.
