Rain
« on: 31 May, 2021, 09:45:17 am »
I was about to go out and water the garden but having looked at the forecast for Somontin there is supposed to be rain around mid day!
I suspect that if I do water then it will not rain, so I have a bit of a dilemma... :undecided: :undecided:

So pleased I did not water earlier as it has been chucking it down and both rain butts are full and the guttering was overflowing, unable to handle such heavy rain...

Yellow warning in the province for storms for this Tuesday
Rainfall will return in the form of a storm to the Almanzora Valley and Los Vélez

Spring is leaving episodes of rain in the province of Almería that, although they are not very continuous in time, they are repeating frequently. The last example was last Thursday, when in an almost surprising way the rain surprised the residents of different parts of the province of Almería such as the Levante Almeriense for a few hours.

A similar situation will be repeated tomorrow, Tuesday, for which the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the yellow warning for storms for the Almanzora Valley and Los Vélez. The north of the province will be affected this time by the rains that will occur according to forecasts between ten in the morning and eight in the afternoon.

As detailed by the head of the Almanzora Astronomical and Meteorological Observatory (OMAA), Juan Jesús Maestre, the moment of greatest intensity of rainfall will occur this Tuesday "around noon and early afternoon" storms may occur. that can be occasionally strong , especially in Los Vélez and the Sierra de las Estancias, although they may be isolated in some way in Los Filabres ".

Maestre recalls that being storms typical of this time of year "storms can leave a lot of precipitation in a short space of time in a specific area but hardly anything falls a few kilometers".

As for the arrival of the almost summer heat (something that seemed inevitable just a few days ago) the head of the observatory warns that during the next few days the weather will continue to be "unstable" so that the rainfall may be repeated during the next few days. "It is difficult to specify because for example this Friday it is expected that there will be clouds again and there could also be a shower."

Thus, it will be necessary to wait at least one more week to put the raincoats and umbrellas in the drawers and to definitively 'rescue' the summer clothes for another year in the province.

Tuesday = Market Day, nothing unusual

The lightning as I drove down the motorway to La Cinta yesterday morning was really spectacular.  I was driving straight into it, having left home in sunshine and the sky was almost on a continuous loop with lightning all around.  Amazing, I love storms...
