Work on the Almanzora Highway will start this month
« on: 07 Sep, 2019, 06:29:34 pm »
The Ministry of Development, Infrastructure and Regional Planning announced that the works of the section El Cucador-La Concepción of the Autovía del Almanzora which has been awarded to the Temporary Business Union (UTE) formed by Construcciones Tejera and Martín Casillas for a budget of 25.3 million euros is expected to start in the second half of September.

The project, which gives continuity to the Albox-El Cucador section, includes the construction of a new 3.3 kilometer roadway, four lanes 3.5 meters wide each. A 300-meter bridge over the Almanzora river and two other viaducts will also be built to span the Barranco del Llorón and the Rambla del Agua. The construction, which has European funding through the Feder funds, will have an execution period of 30 months.

The A-334, known as the Almanzora Highway, was announced in 1985, but it was not until 2005 when work began on the first stretch of road.

Currently, three sections are operational, between Fines and the Cucador link, although there are still two more: the one that is about to begin construction and another one that will allow the connection of this road with the Mediterranean Highway (A-7).
