Termites
« on: 18 May, 2019, 06:11:24 pm »
We have something eating the roof of our conservatory.  I thought it was all metal, the roof is sandwich oanel, 2 sheets of steel with some foam stuff between.  We are getting piles of cream dust below a joint.  Any critters we see lok like ants and are black.  I thought termites were white.  All suggestions gratefully accepted

I once workedxfor a company who made those sort of panels and the foam had cyanide in it.  This obviously hasn't

Would the people who installed it have any idea what to do?

Is it that long?  Crikey.  He still may have had others with the same problem.  Worth contacting...

Thank you.  I am fairly sure they are ants

I have been fighting to get rid of the tiniest ants I've seen.  I've given them a tempting snack of Nippon and am hoping they will go elsewhere.

Those tiny ants do my head in.  If the smallest piece of food ends up on the floor they suddenly appear in their hundreds from somewhere!  I’ve found Ant Stop to be the best thing to get rid of them.

Annie, I have used Nippn powder brought over for me from UK and it really does work.  No signs of the little buggers this morning despite Joey, my Burmese, dropping a teeny piece of his dinner last night.
Nice there is an alternative Annie. Where do you buy it?

I’ve bought it on Amazon for the past two years.

Just had Tony the termite  man come to have a look and they are ants.  Said to keep spraying with Maton.  He is going to treat the car port/garage which does have beetles in one post but not termites.

Nice man 638 084 416  no call out charge in Arboleas

Good that it's not termites. I hate the critters, they are terribly destructive and really difficult to eradicate.
Ants are a breeze compared to them!

Cuchol  polvo insecticida in any hardware.  Sprinkle the powder wherever you want to stop ants and other creepy-crawlies getting in. It deters them and kills them.

The problem is you have to be really careful using powders and sprays when you have animals in the house.😾
