Arboleas elections
« on: 14 Apr, 2023, 12:02:27 pm »
Some months ago there was a fatal accident in the crystal caves in Los Higuerales.
The case is going to court in May.
Rumour is that the accident investigation have been unable to obtain documents from the town hall regarding the work.

One of the senior Psoe councillors, Pepa Rodriguez, resigned as Psoe secretary a month ago, and has been seeking support in the town to stand as Mayor.

Public meeting.

Friday at 8pm
Arboleas Museo.
Introducing the PP candidate for Mayor.
Jose Juan Ramos.
He has been the local nurse in Arboleas for 30 years and is very popular with the Spanish.
There is a lot of anger amongst the British because the current Mayor is taxing the people with illegal homes, instead of the builders.

Lots happening in Arboleas.
The Deputy Mayor, Mike, has resigned just 6 weeks before the election.

Pepa Rodriguez, senior councillor and the Mayor's assistant,  has published her announcement that she is standing for Mayor as an independent.
But her published list of candidates include family and friends of the Mayor.
This looks like a con.
Just to take votes from the PP because the Mayor thinks he could lose.
Many British moving against the Mayor.
And many Spanish moving to the PP candidate, who is very well known and popular.

Pepa's "manifesto" could not be more vague

Jose Juan Ramos has the backing of Jean-Claude and (presumably therefore) the Belgian community. We have had SO many promises here in Limaria about mobile signals, and recently the moving of our dustbins from outside the estate to 100 meters away that we can't really believe a word Cristobal, Mike or Danny say at the moment - waiting for them to knock asking for support, yeah

The meeting yesterday was incredible.
Standing room only in the hall.
When Jose Juan entered the hall everyone rose, applauded and cheered.

The most interesting thing was the makeup of the Spanish.
Not just the smartly dressed PP members.
But a lot of young people, and a lot of lads looking like they just got home from work.
And many Spanish I recognised as usually supporting the current Mayor.

There were around 50 British.
Mostly people with illegal homes.
They have been threatened by the town hall that they will be issued huge taxes for segregation and infrastructure.
Obviously they are worried and angry.

In my opinion the only chance the current Mayor has is if he gets the overwhelming support from the British with legal homes.
If that happens it will not be good for community relations, given the overwhelming support in the Spanish community.

Yes the PP have been working to get the support of the Belgian community.
