Serious help needed with emails
« on: 28 Jan, 2020, 10:43:32 am »
I am trying to get all my W4L stuff on the big desktop and have succeeded but for emails.  I would like the desktop to only have W4Lemails (I have at least 2 other addresses.)

I use the program Outlok in Microsoft Office.  Outlook on the desktop is still as it was when I was running a company from it, 5 + email addresses, most don't even exist  and thousands of addresses and emails  I would like to
A) clear Outlook so it is brand new and doesn't repopulate
or
B) find another program to use that is similar

I have Office 365 .  The W4L email is Pop3.  Strictly not IMAP I am instructed

It is a bit urgent as the laptop that has the W4L address is going to the computer club to have memory added.  I can access the emails on webmail but that is incredibly clunky

Tried many times with help from Gandy-Draper and can,t get the address onto a tablet or ipad

So have you deleted the accounts on outlook

and then delete all the emails from the accounts you no longer use

Which version of windows are you running?

Take a look at backing up ( search "outlook backup tool" if not already installed) and then save/restore from a usb microdrive. You should be able to select which types of file / folders you need. (.pst suffix to the file names usually).

Saw this, which might help : https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Back-up-your-email-E5845B0B-1AEB-424F-924C-AA1C33B18833

Got Outlook clean but none of my email addresses work on it, W4L. hotmail and gmail.  Hotmail and gmail work on my tablet and as my laptop is being upgraded I am now fielding W4L on a very clunky webmail.  In desperation found Outlook Express for W7 and installed it, still no luck on hotmail or W4L, haven't tried gmail.  Question, is there something in the set up of the computer than needs clicking or unclicking?

:dunno: Realistically I'd start by asking your W4L website/email provider why it doesn't work. The error logs they have will give details of what went wrong.

Gmail and Hotmail might take a little bit longer to search their error logs and I'm not sure you'd get a reply.. Need to start somewhere and the solution might solve all three issues.

How you made sure IMAP is turned on?

How to turn on IMAP

Enter your Gmail account
Proceed to the top right corner.
Locate the gear icon and click on it to open the Settings menu.
Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
Proceed to the Enable IMAP option and select it.
Make sure that the status says, 'IMAP is enabled'.
Click SAVE changes.
