Spontaneous demonstration to prevent the destruction of the concrete of the rambla. The Junta requires that the area recover its natural appearance due to lack of authorization for the work
The removal of the concreting that was recently carried out on the banks of the Albox rambla as it passes through the town centre will begin imminently. The independent mayor of Albox, Francisco Torrecillas, has lamented what he recognises as "news that is not pleasant for me."
After hearing the news, dozens of albojenses have concentrated on the edge of the rambla and have parked their cars through it to prevent the machine being moved into place to lift the concrete, causing the arrival of the Civil Guard.
Finally, the machine was removed shortly before six in the afternoon but according to municipal sources will return to try to lift the concrete in the next few hours. In fact, an appeal to return to the place tomorrow at eight in the morning, when they believe the machine will return and alerts will be on the mobile phones of Albojenses.
The mayor recalled that “the concrete was cast because the neighbours demanded it for hygienic reasons, for dust and because in that area there has always been asphalt, not concrete. It was done for that sanitary reason and to secure all the stones”.
Torrecillas defends himself saying “we provided the report of a road engineer specialising in this and that said that we did not accelerate the passage of water.”
The Mayor of Albox understands that "before seeing me in the prison and accusing me of an environmental crime, I'll remove the concrete but the injured is the whole town of Albox" sending a message to the neighbours: "I have to stop this. I cannot see myself in the Criminal Court. They are asking me to go to jail for this action. They have been able to fix it and they have not wanted to. They want me out of the Mayor's Office via the court. so I hope you understand the decision I made."
