TV?
« on: 23 May, 2020, 01:00:44 pm »
For the past week I have been having problems with TV Channels.  I have the big dish and at this time of year do tend to lose some channels but always have BBC, ITV etc but this year I have lost ITV and BBC in th evenings.  Also the 5's.  I can still get Smithsonian and PBS America though.  Is anyone else having problems?

Yes, we have a big dish and we rarely lost ITV before, but we have now.  BBC2 is hopeless and BBC1 has its moments.  We have to go up and down the channels to find a tv area that works.

Unfortunately satellite TV is not reliable in the summer months here. much better using IPTV especially if you have a good reliable I/P network connection. You pays your money and takes your chances!

Jimmymac, you are correct in saying Tv is unreliable in summer but after  5 years o having the big dish I have never lost quite so many channels and certainly not BBC and ITV.  I do have IPTV and use it just for box sets and films and have never needed it for the basic TV channels.
Glad to hear I am not alone, Wolfie!  Let's hope they all come back soon as they have previously. I am fed up having to scroll up and down to find one which works as by the time I find one, I've missed half of it!!!..

Roscoe, do you have the big dish or is your TV via a box?
I think I may be seeing how I can use my box to get the channels I want until t all resolves itself later....

Itv was nonexistent via the big dish so had to search on my IPTV box.

Me too Frankie, I really can't be bothered.  Ooh Roscoe I want a big fish, is it like the Babel fish in Hitchikers' Guide to the Galaxy

Frankie and Judi do you have TVTap.  This app has terrestrial tv in alphabetical order so you can quickly scroll down.

I have the option to scroll down with my big dish but until I click on then do not know if they are working.  I gave up completely last night and read my kindle, as by the time I realised I'd not be able to watch anything I'd lost the will to live and it would be bed time before I found a film I'd like...

We have a 1.4m satellite dish and get all the freesat channels. The only time we ever lose the picture or sound is when there is exceptionally heavy rain. Excellent system and far better than using a big dish.

I think it has something to do with the actual signal the further south you go the worse the signal is

The signal up here is generally excellent which is why I posed the question to see if any other Big Dish users were having similar problem.  It appears there are...
