Disabled card holders
« on: 16 Jun, 2022, 09:05:18 pm »
Apparently you cannot use a UK disabled card in Spain anymore, although talks are ongoing.  We went through this process 4 years ago in Spain.  A very long drawn out process taking over 15 months, although now much longer.  I have seen UK holders using the designated parking places and their disability is laughable compared to the system in Spain,

Yes that’s correct, since 1 January 2022. Uk gov site advised of this in September 2021. Talks are ongoing with a number of EU countries, but as it stands only EU badges are recognised.

One of our Belgian neighbours uses his ex-wife's blue badge if he can't park close enough to wherever - she's never lived here and only visited on a couple of occasions for holidays with their joint daughter. He's also told me to use it when I'm driving his car (e.g. picking him up at the airport) never bothered though 🤣
