Carbon Footprints etc.
« on: 22 Mar, 2020, 01:04:01 pm »
Looking at flights coming into land this morning I was astonished to see three in a row into Gatwick all from Bridgetown.
Checking the airport departures at Bridgetown, Barbados I see this for yesterday (Saturday) evening, overnight into the UK.

FlightDepartureArrivalDestination
Tui Airways16:5004:50LGWLondon
British Airways/Iberia17:0505:15LGWLondon
TUI Airways17:3005:25BHXBirmingham
TUI Airways17:5506:05MANManchester
Virgin Atlantic18:1506:20LGWLondon
TUI Airways18:2006:20LGWLondon
British Airways/Iberia20:0508:20LGWLondon
Virgin Atlantic20:0508:10MANManchester
Virgin Atlantic21:0509:10LGWLondon

The first 3 aircraft were:
Tui was a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
BA ran a Boeing 727-263
Virgin had an Airbus A330

That's one heck of a load of passengers... if the planes were full !!

nb: There are 6 similar flights today, Sunday into Manchester, Newcastle and 4 to Gatwick.

And obviously there will be people fully suited in the blue gowns and masks, with testing kits for every one of the passengers.....

I didn't know Barbados was so big it warranted 10 flights to Gatwick over a weekend and 5 into Manchester, Newcastle and Birmingham. All of them labelled as "Scheduled" at Bridgetown Departures.

Maybe they had been rescue flights and were grounded in Jamaica having previously been used to transport stranded holiday makers from the US?

Drax, I read that the PM of Jamaica declared the country a disaster area over a week ago, seeking nurses from Cuba to come to the island. Will that amount of people be screened upon arrival...errm ! Perhaps planes full of cattle will be allowed in following Cummings "herd" policy.

I think even Cummings has realised how ridiculous that idea was....  I notice he has been a tad quiet on the subject
